Basketball Game Preview: Ray Bearcats vs. Fort Thomas Apaches

Ray hasn't had much luck against Fort Thomas recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ray Bearcats will challenge the Fort Thomas Apaches at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Ray's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

Last Saturday, Ray earned a 69-57 win over Patagonia.

Ray got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chris Curiel out in front who went 6 for 12 en route to 17 points and five steals. Curiel has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Chester, who posted 20 points and six rebounds.

Ray was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Fort Thomas unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Valley Lutheran by a score of 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Apaches have suffered since December 12, 2024.

Ray now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Fort Thomas, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-9.

Ray took their win against Fort Thomas when the teams last played back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 102-76. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ray since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
