Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Titans vs. Mission San Jose Warriors

Kennedy is 0-10 against Mission San Jose since January of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Kennedy Titans will square off against the Mission San Jose Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Kennedy is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against American on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Kennedy lost 68-45 to American. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 701st, while the Eagles are ranked 173rd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Catherine Cheng, who posted 11 points and six boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Siquig, who had 14 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Kennedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mission San Jose fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Granada on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Matadors. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Matadors: they've now lost four in a row.

Mission San Jose's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Kennedy was dealt a bruising 63-33 loss at the hands of Mission San Jose in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Kennedy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
