Basketball Game Preview: Poway Titans vs. Del Norte Nighthawks

Poway is 2-8 against Del Norte since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Poway Titans will challenge the Del Norte Nighthawks at 5:30 p.m. Neither Poway nor Del Norte posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Poway is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 62-23 loss at the hands of Rancho Bernardo. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 580th, while the Broncos are ranked 97th).

Meanwhile, Del Norte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Mission Hills, falling 92-11. The game marked the Nighthawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Poway's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Del Norte, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.

Poway couldn't quite finish off Del Norte in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 62-59. Thankfully for Poway, Bailey Barnhard (who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 19 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
