Basketball Game Preview: Mansfield Tigers vs. Sayre Redskins

Mansfield is 3-0 against Sayre since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mansfield Tigers will head out to square off against the Sayre Redskins at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Mansfield and ten for Sayre.

It was a proper cat-fight when Mansfield faced off against Northeast Bradford on Tuesday. Mansfield lost 75-51 to Northeast Bradford. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Panthers are ranked 155th).

Meanwhile, Sayre played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 75-20 loss at the hands of Troy. The Redskins were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-14.

Mansfield will have to contain Rylee Lantz as she made an impact in Sayre's last game. She went 6 of 7 en route to 12 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Lantz a new career-high in points.

Mansfield's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-7. As for Sayre, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Mansfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Sayre when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 32-24. Does Mansfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sayre turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
