Softball Recap: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Berthoud Spartans

Thompson Valley dropped to 7-10 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 16-1 to the Berthoud Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on September 9th.

Thompson Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Villafranca, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Ella Raabe was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

As for Berthoud, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Berthoud's side, Camryn Olivas and Chloe Sadar-Holmes were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Olivas pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sadar-Holmes tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Olivas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Olivas went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Sadar-Holmes earned one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Olivas has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Berthoud let Alana Lukensow and Annabelle Hughes run wild. Lukensow went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double, while Hughes went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most hits Lukensow has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Kuntz, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.
