Basketball Game Preview: Orthopaedic Vipers vs. Central City Value Jaguars

Orthopaedic hasn't had much luck against Central City Value recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Orthopaedic Vipers will head out on the road to take on the Central City Value Jaguars at 3:30 p.m.

Orthopaedic came up short against Aspire Ollin on Wednesday, falling 47-21.

Meanwhile, Central City Value humbled Animo Bunche with a 32-3 victory. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Central City Value's win came from a few key players Orthopaedic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dayara Moreno, who posted ten points and five steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlet Zelaya, who scored three points in addition to ten boards and six steals.

Central City Value smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 22 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Central City Value is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points per game. As for Orthopaedic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Orthopaedic came up short against Central City Value in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 27-17. Can Orthopaedic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
