Baseball Recap: Coon Rapids Comes Up Short

Coon Rapids fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against St. Francis on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 3-2. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brady Leckner was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reese Sharp was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coon Rapids' defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for St. Francis, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Coming up, Coon Rapids will be playing at home against Chisago Lakes Area at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Francis, they will challenge Blaine at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
