Basketball Game Preview: Cameron County Raiders vs. Otto-Eldred Terrors

Cameron County is 1-9 against Otto-Eldred since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cameron County Raiders will face off against the Otto-Eldred Terrors at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cameron County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Port Allegany 45-31. The win was all the more spectacular given the Raiders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Gators are ranked 180th).

Meanwhile, Otto-Eldred came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 54-30 margin over the Lions. The Terrors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Cameron County better focus on containing Ayla Van Scoter and Baylee Francis as the pair were huge in Otto-Eldred's win. Van Scoter went 7 of 15 on her way to 20 points and five rebounds, while Francis went 5 for 7 en route to 15 points and three steals. Those 20 points gave Van Scoter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carrie Drummond, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Cameron County's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Otto-Eldred, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Cameron County came up short against Otto-Eldred when the teams last played last Wednesday, falling 48-40. Can Cameron County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
