Baseball Recap: Centennial Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Centennial rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the San Joaquin Memorial Panthers 6-5.

Ross Rocha spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Centennial is 6-1-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tanner Parsons, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Tyler Sommerfeld also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Centennial now has a winning record of 15-14-1. As for San Joaquin Memorial, they moved to 23-6 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Coming up, Centennial will take on Redwood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Golden Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. San Joaquin Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
