Basketball Recap: Preuss UCSD Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Rediet Neme and Afi Torgby

Preuss UCSD was the 30-12 winner over Ocean View Christian when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Preuss UCSD Tritons took a 30-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ocean View Christian Patriots on Thursday. The Tritons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Preuss UCSD's loss came despite strong showings from Afi Torgby and Rediet Neme. Torgby posted nine points, while Neme earned eight points. That was a full 38.1% of Preuss UCSD's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Preuss UCSD's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-10. As for Ocean View Christian, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Preuss UCSD will challenge School for Entrepreneurship & Technology at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. Ocean View Christian has already played their next game (against Liberty Charter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
