Soccer Game Preview: Banks County vs. Elbert County

The Banks County Leopards will head out to square off against the Elbert County Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Banks County's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Banks County came up short against Cedar Shoals on Tuesday, falling 6-1. While losing is never fun, Banks County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Cedar Shoals are ranked 175th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Elbert County made sure to put some goals up on the board against Oglethorpe County on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 5-2 margin over the Patriots. Elbert County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by three goals or more this season.

They hit Oglethorpe County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Daniel Ezqueda (3), Judeson Lexima, and Khoa Tran.

Elbert County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Banks County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Banks County couldn't quite get it done against Elbert County when the teams last played back in March of 2022 as they fell 2-0. Can Banks County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
