Baseball Recap: Covenant Christian Academy Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Covenant Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pinecrest Academy Paladins 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Paladins back in March, they had to take a 12-0 loss.

Asher Bond made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Bond was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Covenant Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

Bond wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Kennedy, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Covenant Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Pinecrest Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 14-2 record.

Looking ahead, Covenant Christian Academy will look to defend their home field on Monday against Kings Way Christian School at 4:00 p.m. Pinecrest Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
