Softball Recap: Higbee Victorious

Higbee took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sturgeon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Kiersten Rockett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Higbee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliona Bruce, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Lauren Spilman was another, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Higbee's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Sturgeon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Higbee nor Sturgeon have any future games scheduled.
