Baseball Game Preview: John Milledge Academy Trojans vs. First Presbyterian Day Vikings

The John Milledge Academy Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the First Presbyterian Day Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with John Milledge Academy sitting on four straight wins and First Presbyterian Day on 15.

John Milledge Academy proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 16) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Mount de Sales Academy.

Kolt McMichael made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

McMichael wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bradyn Harrison, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Will Adams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, First Presbyterian Day posted their closest win since April 4th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Piedmont Academy 5-4.

First Presbyterian Day pushed their record up to 24-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for John Milledge Academy, their record is now 18-6.

Everything went John Milledge Academy's way against First Presbyterian Day in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as John Milledge Academy made off with a 15-7 victory.
