Flag Football Recap: Edison Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Edison dropped to 14-9 on Wednesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 27-7 to the Newport Harbor Sailors. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Sailors are ranked fourth).

Avea Niumata threw for 57 yards and one touchdown. Sadie Olivares was her top target, picking up 33 receiving yards and one score.

As for Newport Harbor, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The result was nothing new for the Sailors, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Scarlett Guyser was her usual excellent self, rushing for 80 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 110 yards and one touchdown.

Looking ahead, Edison will venture away from home to face off against Marina at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Newport Harbor, they will host Saint Joseph at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Sailors' defense better be ready for this one: the Jesters have averaged an impressive 29.4 points per game this season.
