Basketball Recap: Ray Falls Despite Big Games from Chase Chester and Seth Wade

Ray was the 102-76 winner over Fort Thomas when they last played one another back in March of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Ray Bearcats took a 71-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Thomas Apaches on Tuesday.

Ray's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Seth Wade, who shot 6-for-11 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards, and Chase Chester, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points. Wade is becoming a predictor of Ray's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 11-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Curiel, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Ray was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

It was another big night for Channing Wilson, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and four steals for Fort Thomas. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justin Olivar, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

Ray's defeat dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Fort Thomas, they pushed their record up to 18-9 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Ray wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-44 victory against Duncan on the 31st. As for Fort Thomas, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 86-81 win against Joseph City on the 31st.
