Soccer Game Preview: Towns County vs. Pickens

The Towns County Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Pickens Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Towns County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Towns County's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Stephens County 1-0. Given Towns County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Stephens County is ranked 430th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pickens' offense. They came up short against Chestatee on Tuesday, falling 4-0.

Towns County's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. As for Pickens, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Towns County might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Pickens in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
