Softball Recap: Fort Gibson Has No Trouble Against Inola

Fort Gibson lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Inola, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Tigers blew past the Longhorns 9-1 on Thursday. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Skyla Oden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Izy Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Miley Wafford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Fort Gibson has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10 runs thus far. As for Inola, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Fort Gibson will be playing in front of their home fans against Kansas at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Inola, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Checotah at 5:00 p.m. on the 25th.
