After a string of ten wins, Cook's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Appling County Pirates. The matchup marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Cook's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 18-2. As for Appling County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Looking ahead, Cook will host Pierce County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Appling County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tattnall County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.46 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
