Basketball Recap: Penns Manor Skates Past Portage with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Penns Manor). They breezed by the Portage Mustangs to the tune of 68-26 on Thursday. The Comets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 25 points or more this season.

Portage's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brynn Burkett, who posted four points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, and Kendall Bednarski, who had ten points. The dominant performance gave Burkett a new career-high in steals.

The win was the fourth in a row for Penns Manor, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Portage, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

Penns Manor and Portage should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Penns Manor (ranked 74th) will meet Conemaugh Valley (ranked 555th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Portage (ranked 224th) will meet Homer-Center (ranked 463rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
