Basketball Recap: Leroy Greene Academy Comes Up Short

On Wednesday, the Leroy Greene Academy Lions came up short against the Chesterton Academy of Sacramento Saints and fell 39-28. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Leroy Greene Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anaya Alston dropped a double-double on 26 points and 18 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alston has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Cedillo, who posted two points in addition to six assists, six boards, and four steals.

Leroy Greene Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Chesterton Academy of Sacramento, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leroy Greene Academy will welcome Creative Connections Arts Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chesterton Academy of Sacramento, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Adventure Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
