Basketball Game Preview: Arleta Mustangs vs. Eagle Rock Eagles

The Arleta Mustangs will head out to square off against the Eagle Rock Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Arleta is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Verdugo Hills just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to the Dons on the road by a 47-32 margin.

Meanwhile, Eagle Rock had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.6 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They breezed past the Mules to the tune of 51-17. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Arleta's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 16-9. As for Eagle Rock, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.

Arleta couldn't quite finish off Eagle Rock in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 41-39. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
