Basketball Recap: Gering Bulldogs vs. Scottsbluff Bearcats

Gering lost to Scottsbluff back in February of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bulldogs took a blow against the Bearcats, falling 59-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered against the Bearcats since December 2, 2022.

Gering lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jacelyn Brown, who posted eight points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ivy Bruckner, who scored five points and seven boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scottsbluff to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Reed, who had 19 points and three steals. Reed continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Gering has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Scottsbluff, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-7.

Gering has already played their next matchup, a 58-52 win against Chadron on the 29th. As for Scottsbluff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-34 victory against North Platte on the 29th.
