Recap: Madison Warhawks vs. Coronado Islanders
The Madison Warhawks waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They breezed by Coronado at home to the tune of 50-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Madison has posted yet this season.
Madison's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amyaha Walker, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Walker pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Minshew, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Coronado still got an impressive performance from Susanna Pate, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five steals. Pate is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Selena Herrera, who scored eight points.
Madison is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Coronado, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which is still a better percentage than their 1-9 record this season.
Madison will head out on the road to take on Clairemont at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Clairemont is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Coronado, they will be playing at home against Kearny at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
