Basketball Recap: Wyomissing's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of nine wins, Wyomissing's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against the Middletown Blue Raiders, falling 62-40. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Spartans, who until this matchup were averaging 27.75 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Wyomissing still got an impressive performance from Amaya Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Stewart's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Hardy, who posted six points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Wyomissing's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Middletown, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Wyomissing will take on Tulpehocken at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Middletown, they will venture away from home to face off against Greencastle-Antrim at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
