Basketball Recap: Canoga Park Takes a Loss

Canoga Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by the Kennedy Cougars 67-18. While losing is never fun, the Hunters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1211th, while the Cougars are ranked 299th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andreya Villa, who went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Villa is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Katherine Franco, who went 6 of 8 to rack up 14 points and three steals.

Canoga Park's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Kennedy, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing San Fernando the next time they take the court. Canoga Park will head out to face San Fernando at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while Kennedy will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
