High school football: Set to meet Friday, No. 1 Mater Dei and No. 2 St. John Bosco feature 58 players with at least one FBS offer

Trinity League rivals have a combined 29 players rated as a three-star recruit or higher.

There will be an unprecedented level of talent on the field Friday when No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) hosts No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) in a Trinity League showdown.

The Southern California powerhouses and bitter rivals feature a combined 58 players that have landed at least one FBS offer. Twenty-nine of them are rated as a three-star recruit or higher by 247Sports.

The only five-star prospect is junior wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. of Mater Dei. Unfortunately, he won't be in uniform after suffering a season-ending injury in a 31-15 win over Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) on Sept. 6.
Jordon DavisonTomuhini Topui, Daryus Dixson, Nasir WyattKodi Greene and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt headline the nine four-stars for the Monarchs.

Epi Sitanilei, Madden Williams and Daniel Odom are the three four-stars for Bosco.



Mater Dei has eight three-stars led by Marcus Harris, Dash Beierly, Abduall Sanders and C.J. Lavender Jr.

Dutch Horisk, Joshua Holland, Carson Clark and Matthew Perdue are among the nine three-stars on St. John Bosco.

The Braves are loaded for the future with 14 players freshmen and sophomores with FBS offers. Starting quarterback Koa Malau'ulu headlines the five from the Class of 2028 and starting safety Isala Wily-Ava leads the way among the nine in the Class of 2027.

Mark Bowman, Ace Leutele, Aaryn Washington and Danny Lang II are among the 10 underclassmen that have landed at least one FBS offer on Mater Dei.

Friday's game will be the 15th meeting between the top two teams in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school football since 2000. Mater Dei and St. John Bosco have accounted for five of the previous 14 with all of those coming since 2018.
