Football Game Preview: Camden County Bruins vs. Holmes Aces

Camden County hasn't had much luck against Holmes recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bruins will challenge the Aces at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Camden County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 29-14 victory over Pamlico County on Thursday.

Camden County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Trot Pipkin out in front who picked up 57 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Camden County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Holmes, who bounced back after a loss on the road on September 12th. They claimed a resounding 75-20 victory over First Flight. The Aces pushed the score to 75-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Nighthawks cut but never quite recovered from.

Holmes' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB 7.5 times. The heavy lifting was done by Amari Bond and Noah Browder, who racked up five sacks between them. Browder is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Chris Wilson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Camden County's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Holmes, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Camden County couldn't quite finish off Holmes when the teams last played back in October of 2024 and fell 25-22. Thankfully for the Bruins, Amaree Jackson (who rushed for 157 yards and two scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 42 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
