Basketball Game Preview: Modoc Braves vs. Hoopa Valley Warriors

The Modoc Braves will be taking part in a tournament against the Hoopa Valley Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Modoc will be strutting in after a win while Hoopa Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

Hoopa Valley better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Modoc really get things going. Everything went Modoc's way against Lakeview on Tuesday as Modoc made off with a 52-26 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves.

Modoc's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mackenzie Diven, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Diven a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Sandage, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 13 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Hoopa Valley ended up a good deal behind Arcata on Tuesday and lost 58-42. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hoopa Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Modoc, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Modoc was dealt a bruising 57-29 defeat at the hands of Hoopa Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Modoc, Tashee Tracy (who went 11 of 17 on her way to 23 points along with seven boards and six blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
