League recap: Maynard races to league-leading run for Chanhassen

Raymonte Maynard of Chanhassen ran for the longest rushing play in Missota this season against Chaska last week. Maynard's team fell to the Hawks as he sprinted for 73 yards on the play and finished with 91 in all.

Chaska was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Chanhassen. Lambert Brown's team came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.

Shakopee's dynamic duo of Travis Larsen and Steffon Mitchell proved to be unstoppable against Red Wing, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Larsen threw for 62 yards and 3 touchdowns and Mitchell had 51 yards receiving.

The Sabers' dynamic duo of Larsen and Mitchell proved tough for the Wingers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Larsen put up the best numbers through the air as Shakopee bested Red Wing.

Alex Boys was a key player and the best on defense this week as Jody Stone's team topped Matt Schultz's team. The 6-foot-0 junior.

He went 5-11 with 0 interceptions.

Kolby Seiffert was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 190 yards on 13 carries as the Hawks defeated the Wingers. Teammate Justin Arnold added to the ground attack by rushing for 120 yards.

Mitchell was the best wideout in the league this week as Shakopee topped Red Wing.

Arnold was a passing and rushing force as Chaska defeated Bill Rosburg's team. Arnold's favorite target this week was Garett Glieden, who caught 2 passes for 33 yards.

One of Missota's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Hawks and the Sabers face off next week. Arnold has thrown for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Zachary Tangeman has plagued opposing QBs to the tune of 1.5 sacks.

Next week's game between Chaska and Shakopee will feature an aerial matchup as Arnold tests his arm against Boys' defensive ability.

The Hawks are currently in second, while the Sabers are in third.

There should be lots of points scored when Chaska and Shakopee face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Hawks comes in having scored 64 this season, while the Sabers have scored 63. Chaska scored 35 points last week as it beat the Storm.

Academy of Holy Angels was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fourth in the league. The Stars defeated New Prague 53-13 earlier in the week.
