            Softball Recap: Cedaredge Bruins vs. Montezuma-Cortez Panthers        
        
		
        
        
            Cedaredge hadn't done well against Montezuma-Cortez recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Thursday. The Bruins blew past the Panthers 16-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  21-2  on Thursday.

 Tia Homedew was a  major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  tossed six innings while giving up  three earned  (and five unearned) runs off   seven  hits. Homedew was also stellar in the batter's box,  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances with four  runs, three  RBI,  and one  stolen base. Those  four  runs gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Jewel Laliberte was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and three  RBI. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kiera Stroh, who  went 1-for-3 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  RBI.
 Cedaredge  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montezuma-Cortez only posted  an  OBP of  .296.
Cedaredge has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8  runs this season. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedaredge will host Palisade  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they will welcome Gunnison  at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
