Softball Recap: Simpson Academy's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Simpson Academy dropped to 19-4 on Monday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets by a score of 9-8. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 7-6.

As for Oak Forest Academy, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Oak Forest Academy's part, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Wilkinson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Payton Freche, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Simpson Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Laurel Christian at 6:15 p.m. on the 18th. Oak Forest Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
