Baseball Recap: Coastal HomeSchool Comes Up Short

Coastal HomeSchool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 5-1 to the Providence Athletic Club Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Carson Little spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Jace Poppell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He has become a key player for Coastal HomeSchool: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-11 otherwise.

Coastal HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Providence Athletic Club, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-9.

While Coastal HomeSchool had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
