Football Recap: Legacy Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Legacy Academy can now relate to. They took a blow against the Eunice Cardinals on Saturday, falling 62-18. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Silverbacks have suffered since November 16, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Legacy Academy lost, don't look at Bryant Scales. Despite the final result, he picked up 132 receiving yards and one score.

It was another big night for Elijah Melancon, who rushed for 104 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 254 yards and a pair of TDs for Eunice. Melancon's passing game has become a key predictor of the Cardinals' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

With the loss, Legacy Academy broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-2. As for Eunice, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Legacy Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eunice, they will take on Texico at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Wolverines have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups.
