Softball Preview: P.K. Yonge Blue Wave vs. Interlachen Rams
P.K. Yonge is 2-8 against Interlachen since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave are on the road again to play the Interlachen Rams at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
P.K. Yonge can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They put the hurt on First Christian with a sharp 13-6 victory.
P.K. Yonge let Emma Mansfield and Colbie Scott loose on the outfield. Mansfield scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Scott scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Garrison, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Interlachen scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 21-4 margin over St. Augustine. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Brooklyn Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Davis has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive pitching appearances. Davis was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Heavyn Riddley was incredible, scoring five runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Baileigh Riddley, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
