Basketball Game Preview: West Wolfpack vs. Edison Vikings

The West Wolfpack will take on the Edison Vikings in a holiday battle at at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. West is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

West saw some tournament action on Thursday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Patterson an easy 54-29 victory. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 863rd, while the Tigers are ranked 112th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edison). They blew past River Islands 68-26 on Thursday. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 25 points or more this season.

West better keep an eye on Ajaila Jordan. She was instrumental in Edison's win, putting up 33 points. Those 33 points gave Jordan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Wilson, who posted 12 points.

West's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Edison, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

West was taken down by Edison 76-38 in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Thankfully for West, Mya Blake (who went 11 of 17 on her way to 28 points and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
