Softball Recap: Seward Takes a Loss

Ralston hit Seward with a four-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bluejays fell just short of the Rams by a score of 5-4. The Bluejays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Seward got a good showing from Skyler Hansen, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hansen has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lauren Frihauf was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played.

Seward's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Ralston, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Seward has already played their next match, an 11-3 loss against Lakeview on the 22nd. As for Ralston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-1 defeat against Beatrice on the 23rd.
