Soccer Game Preview: La Canada vs. Temple City

La Canada and Temple City are an even 4-4-2 against one another since January of 2020, but likely not for long. The La Canada Spartans will face off against the Temple City Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. La Canada is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

On Tuesday, it was close, but La Canada sidestepped South Pasadena for a 2-1 win. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Tigers are ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Samantha Hosford and Hailee Takao scored both of La Canada's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 40 goals.

Meanwhile, Temple City narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past San Marino 3-2.

Temple City has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four games. As for La Canada, their win bumped their record up to 13-1-2.

Everything went La Canada's way against Temple City in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as La Canada made off with an 8-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Canada since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
