Softball Recap: Turner County Comes Up Short

Turner County had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it 11. They came up short against the Charlton County Indians, falling 20-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 15-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

As for Charlton County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-5-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Charlton County's part, Kennedy Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Taylor a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Charlton County got a massive performance out of Macariyah Gibbs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Gibbs a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Privett, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

While Turner County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
