After a string of four wins, Francis Parker's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Moreno Valley Vikings by a score of 48-46. While the Lancers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 16-9 in the first quarter.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brieana Brown, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gigi Ong, who posted nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Francis Parker was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moreno Valley only racked up two assists.

Moreno Valley found their leader in sophomore Alaysha Mills, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 22 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hasina Williams, who had seven points and three steals.

Francis Parker's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Moreno Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Francis Parker didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-47 defeat against Rancho Christian on the 11th. As for Moreno Valley, they will take on Paloma Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Moreno Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
