Football Game Preview: Fort Scott Tigers vs. Tonganoxie Chieftains

The Fort Scott Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Tonganoxie Chieftains on Friday. Fort Scott will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Fort Scott is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 48-6 win over Field Kindley. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Golden Tornado: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Tonganoxie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Ottawa. That's two games in a row now that the Chieftains have lost by exactly four points.

Despite the loss, Tonganoxie saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bodee Maslak threw for 133 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 56 yards on only seven carries. 80 of Maslak's passing yards were hauled in by Jacob Morenz.

Tonganoxie's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Fort Scott, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Fort Scott came up short against Tonganoxie when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 34-28. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
