Recap: Gustine Reds vs. Orestimba Warriors
After flying high against the Delhi Hawks last Tuesday, the Gustine Reds came back down to earth. Gustine received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 37-20 to Orestimba. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gustine in their matchups with Orestimba: they've now lost nine in a row.
Gustine's loss came despite strong showings from Brooklyn Jackson and Shandel Aguilera. Jackson scored four points along with six rebounds and two blocks, while Aguilera scored nine points along with six steals and two blocks. Aguilera hasn't dropped below five steals for 11 straight games.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Gustine struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Orestimba racked up nine assists.
Olivia Gray was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds for Orestimba. Gray is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Bell, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Gustine dropped their record down to 6-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Orestimba, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 19-8.
Gustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Orestimba also has no future games currently scheduled.
