Softball Recap: Calhoun Triumphs + How To Watch

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Calhoun ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ridgeland Panthers, sneaking past 10-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Yellow Jackets needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Calhoun got a massive performance out of Maggy Abernathy, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those five hits gave Abernathy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mori Henderson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Calhoun's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Ridgeland, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-12.

Calhoun will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
