Soccer Game Preview: Arroyo Grande vs. Santa Ynez

The Arroyo Grande Eagles and the Santa Ynez Pirates will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Arroyo Grande is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

Arroyo Grande's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Templeton as Arroyo Grande made off with a 4-0 victory. Considering Arroyo Grande has won three contests by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Shyenne Cano and Olivia Hunsicker scored all four of Arroyo Grande's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Santa Ynez's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged Morro Bay out 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for Santa Ynez.

Arroyo Grande's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Santa Ynez, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4.

Arroyo Grande beat Santa Ynez 2-0 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Arroyo Grande have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Ynez turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
