Softball Recap: Telfair County Trojans vs. Johnson County Trojans
Telfair County was the 8-0 winner over Johnson County when they last played one another back in September of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Telfair County fell just short of Johnson County by a score of 11-10 on Wednesday. Telfair County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lylah Cate Jones was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kalyn Deeds and Nala Parsons stepped up to the plate in a big way. Deeds went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Parsons got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those hits were Deeds' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keely Johnson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Telfair County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Johnson County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.
Looking ahead, Telfair County will be playing in front of their home fans against Tattnall County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Johnson County, they will head out on the road to square off against Wilkinson County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
