Soccer Recap: Las Cruces Comes Up Short

Las Cruces was the 3-1 winner over Deming when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Wildcats who were credited with the win on Friday. The Deming Wildcats got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Las Cruces Bulldawgs' zero. The game got a bit rough at times, as the refs handed out a total of three yellow cards before it was all over: Las Cruces' Brandon Carver and Adan Benevidez and Deming's Angel Mateos were all carded.

Las Cruces' goal came courtesy of Julian Nevarez, which was the first he's scored this season.

Las Cruces' defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Deming, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Las Cruces didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Non Varsity Opponent on the 29th. As for Deming, they will challenge Organ Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
