Ben Davis had lost six straight, but after bumping their record up to 4-16 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Purdue Polytechnic Techies with a sharp 12-2 win. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Giants this season.

Tyler Morris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Avery Mitchell was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ben Davis' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-15 when he doesn't). Jace Allen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for Purdue Polytechnic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since April 13th.
On Purdue Polytechnic's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Abdurrahim, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one double.
Coming up, Ben Davis is taking a road trip to square off against Speedway at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Sparkplugs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.73 runs per game on average), something the Giants will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Purdue Polytechnic, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-3 victory against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial on the 16th.
