Recap: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Foothill Mustangs
The Mesa Verde Mavericks's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Foothill and snuck past 31-29. This was payback for Mesa Verde, who suffered a 47-35 loss the last time these two teams met.
Mesa Verde found their leader in underclassman Jaiden Alexander, who scored six points along with 19 rebounds and six blocks. That's the first time this season that Alexander posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Ruby Solis, who scored 15 points.
Despite the loss, Foothill still got an impressive performance from Joyce Runner, who scored 11 points. Kaliyah Benjamin-Wade was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Mesa Verde is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa Verde will face off against Rosemont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to face off against Lindhurst at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
