Basketball Recap: Westlake's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to 15

Westlake entered their tilt with Newbury Park on Friday with 14 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 15. They blew past the Newbury Park Panthers 67-32. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westlake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mathis Dritz, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. Dritz's evening made it 23 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Taylor Swanson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards.

Despite the loss, Newbury Park still got an impressive performance from Greta Heath, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Heath is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played.

Westlake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Newbury Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season.

Westlake has already played their next match, a 55-39 loss against Fairmont Prep on the 1st. As for Newbury Park, they will take on Thousand Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thousand Oaks is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
