Basketball Game Preview: Winside Wildcats vs. Homer Knights

The Winside Wildcats will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Homer Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Winside is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They had to suffer through a 61-19 loss at the hands of Wynot. The Wildcats were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Ellie Topp and Hadleigh Schutt, who each put up seven points. Aftyn Schutt held things down on the boards with 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Homer was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 59-58 to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. The loss put an end to the Knights' undefeated start to the season.

Winside was dealt a bruising 64-28 loss at the hands of Homer in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Knights' Lilly Harris, who went 12-for-14 to rack up 26 points.
